Sunday we went back to Harmony Hall. I brought my Yamaha piano. The sound was a bit off at home and I wanted to see how it sounded through their sound system. Brian was at the door with us before it opened. I heard him play. Very nice and clean with great articulation on his vocals.
I played one of my original songs: 'Lion On A Flag'. I had a bit of a Freudian slip on stage as I announced it as my own competition. And quickly corrected myself: My own composition. I also played 'House of the Rising Sun'.
We found out about the Old Flame open mic in Newmarket on Thursdays starting at 6:30pm (a more civilized hour to be out and about). Really nice atmosphere with a Yamaha electric piano available for anyone to play. I played three songs and we felt very good about the evening.
Here's me on the house piano at the Old Flame.
The host there is Stuart. I showed him the Global Piano Network and will be following up this weekend. He may like to become a community member as a curator for this venue.
On Friday we were back to the Monte Carlo where I finally met up with Steffi. She has joined the community on the GPN app and looks to have a lot of insight for collaboration and gigs north of Toronto. Another great evening!
